Club Championships
Club Championships
This note is to explain to new swimmers how the Club Championships work.
The heats for the Club Championships take place in October. (The heats are open to all swimmers from ‘D’ Squad up.)
Age Groups
10 years & under
11 – 12 years
13 – 14 years
15 years & over
Distances
10 & under - 50m in all 4 strokes
11 & over - 100m in all 4 strokes
Finals
The first six in each stroke in each age group will qualify. Some swimmers will qualify in all strokes, while others may only qualify in 1 or 2.
The Championship Finals are the club’s main event of the year and it is an exciting event for the swimmers to be involved in.
Junior Gala
The Junior Gala for those who have not qualified is held in December.
Swimmers are not normally told their times at the heats, but all the times will go up on the notice board with the list of qualifiers once all the qualification swims have been completed.
If swimmers miss one of the qualifying nights (eg. - through illness), then they can still be timed - speak to a coach as soon as possible to arrange this.
