Trip to Galloway Activity Centre - Saturday 22nd May 2010

This year's trip will be to Galloway Activity Centre, near Castle Douglas. It is the same place as we went to last June and the swimmers enjoyed themselves a lot.

Times
Saturday 22nd May.
Leave Blantyre Sports Centre 7-30am
Depart from Galloway Activity Centre at 5pm
(estimated arrival time back at Blantyre is 7pm)
The activities will be from 10am – 5pm (with a break for lunch).

Location
Galloway Activity Centre is on the banks of Loch Ken in the Galloway Hills, 6 miles north of Castle Douglas. They run a range of activities and water sports. Their staff are appropriately qualified and they are recognised activity providers with Dumfries & Galloway Council.

Activities
Will be 4 of the following:
Kayaking, Sailing, Windsurfing, Climbing wall & zipwire, Archery, Outdoor Laserquest, Mountain Bike Skills

The young people will be organised into groups - everybody will do a half-day of water sports, and a half-day of land-based activities.

Please note that (on the advice of the Outdoor Centre) the young people will be divided into age groups so that the activities are made suitable for their age (and size). Therefore children should not expect to be kept with big brothers & sisters. They should also be prepared to try all of the activities. Everybody will do some water sports. Please don’t take any of these activities as 100% guaranteed, as the final programme depends on numbers of kids & instructors etc. We think that the kayaking and outdoor laserquest are fairly definite, and we will sort out the rest with the Centre.

Cost
The total cost is around £40 per child (including transport). We are asking club members to pay £20, and the club will pay the rest from funds.

Fundraising
Each child will receive SASA raffle tickets and a football card giving individuals the option to raise up to £15 of their £20.

SASA Raffle tickets: This is an annual raffle organised by SASA. If you sell both books you should include the £10 and stubs in your envelope. £5 of this will go towards your trip, the other £5 goes to SASA. Please return unsold books to Tracy.

Football Cards: If you sell your football card at 50p per box this will raise £10 towards your trip with the winner receiving the other £10.

Booking a place
To book a place on the trip, please return the consent form along with £20 payment (or £25 and raffle stubs) by 11th May in an envelope with your child’s name on it. You can return these to Tracy, Calum or Carol.

Nearer the time you will get full information about the day and what they will need to bring.

It should be possible for a few parents to go, especially if their children are quite young. If you would prefer to go with your child please let us know, as there is limited space on the busses. We may ask these people to make a contribution towards the cost of the bus.

Questions: If you have any questions about the trip then please contact Calum Harbison on (01698) 425326. You can also visit the centre’s website - www.lochken.co.uk
